Southern Maryland Signs Former Major League Infielder Chin-Lung Hu

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs have signed former major league infielder Chin-Lung Hu for the 2012 season season.

Hu a native of Taiwan, signed as an undrafted free agent with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2003. He played 118 games in the major leagues for the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets from 2007-2011.  He has a career .176 batting average with 2 home runs and 18 RBI in 193 at-bats. Last season, he split time between Mets, their Triple-A affiliate Buffalo, and the Gulf Coast Mets(RK). He is a minor league career .296 hitter with 47 home runs, 305 RBI and 100 stolen bases.

Hu didn't put up huge stats in the major leagues, but is a solid minor league hitter. He's a great pick up for the Crabs, who can use him at second base or shortstop.
