
Padgett a native of South Carolina, played his college baseball at Clemson University. He was a 5th Round pick(160th overall) by the Florida Marlins in the 1998 MLB Amateur draft. Padgett played eight years in the Marlins organization. He had his best season in 2004, when he hit .267 with 24 Home Runs, and drove in 93 RBI's for Albuquerque(AAA) . Padgett also played in the Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies organizations. In 2008, he signed with the York Revolution, where he played for two seasons. In February 2010, he was traded to the Long Island Ducks for John Pachot. Padgett played two seasons for the Ducks and became a fan favorite. Last season, he hit .282 with 11 home runs and 67 RBI for the Ducks.

Padgett is a great pick up by the Blue Crabs. He's a solid baseball player as well as a great person. No matter where he plays, he becomes a favorite. I know many Duck fans were upset when the Ducks opted on to re-sign him. Padgett will most likely play first base with third base occupied by Travis Garcia.
