Ballpark Digest: Atlantic League Returning to Atlantic City?

BallparkDigest.com is reporting that the SandCastle in Atlantic City will be renamed "Surf Stadium," for upcoming youth tournaments, exhibitions, as well as a weekend series between the Camden Riversharks and the Sugar Land Skeeters.

The Surf ceased operations in Atlantic City after the 2009 season. Bernie Robbins Stadium (as it was named at the time) was abandoned. The stadium slowly deteriorated, and was nearly destroyed to make room for other developments. However,  1.1 million dollars has been spent over the last year on roof and field repair to get the stadium back up and running.

Atlantic League officials are using the above exhibitions and games to gauge interest in bringing an Atlantic League team back to Atlantic City.
